Magura MDR-P Brake Rotor – High Performance for E-bikes and Trail Bikes
The Magura MDR-P brake rotor is a performance-oriented brake rotor with a low weight, exceptional heat resistance, and extremely high stability. This makes it ideal for e-bikes, trail bikes, and downhill mountain bikes that require high braking power and durability.
Features:
6-hole mounting (not suitable for center lock adapters) for a stable and secure mounting.
Dovetail Interlink Technology : a patented system with special serrations between the inner and outer rings of the brake disc, which ensures minimal play and extra stiffness.
Excellent heat management : the brake disc expands at high temperatures, but thanks to the technology it maintains its stability and braking power, limiting loss of braking power during long descents.
Material : Steel brake surface combined with an aluminum spider for a strong and lightweight construction.
Available diameters : 180 mm, 203 mm and 220 mm.
E-bike optimized : suitable for higher loads and longer service life under heavy braking moments.
Reduces noise and increases braking power due to the stable construction.
Weight : approx. 190g (180mm), 216g (203mm), 241g (220mm).
Applications:
This brake disc is ideal for demanding applications such as e-bikes, trail riding and downhill where consistent performance, heat resistance and durability are crucial.
The Magura MDR-P brake rotor combines advanced technology with robust materials for a reliable, powerful and durable braking experience, particularly suitable for modern high-performance bicycles and e-bikes.
The difference between the Magura 7.S and 8.S disc brake pads is mainly in compatibility, performance and material.
Magura 7.S brake pads are suitable for 2-piston calipers such as those used on the MT2, MT4, MT6, and MT8 models. Their organic (resin) composition ensures good modulation, good braking power, and relatively quiet braking. They are widely applicable but less heat-resistant, making them less suitable for long descents or heavy-duty use.
Magura 8.S brake pads are designed for 4-piston calipers (such as MT5 and MT7) and are also organic. They are optimized for e-bikes with higher braking forces. The 8.S pads therefore generally offer higher braking power and a longer lifespan than the 7.S, especially under intensive or heavy use. They also have better heat resistance and a reduced risk of fading.
In summary:
| Feature | Magura 7.S | Magura 8.S |
|---|---|---|
| Brake caliper compatibility | 2-piston (MT2, MT4, MT6, MT8) | 4-piston (MT5, MT7) |
| Brake pad type | Organic | Organic, e-bike optimized |
| Braking power | Good | Higher, better for e-bike and heavy use |
| Heat resistance | Moderate | Better, suitable for longer descents |
| Noise level | Low | Low |
| Lifespan | Normal | Longer lifespan |
The 8.S brake pads are therefore a more powerful, durable and e-bike-friendly alternative to the 7.S, but both offer good braking performance for their respective applications.
