 The D-Light's short, 2mm section reduces weight, particularly on the threaded end. The 2mm section begins just at the beginning of the thread. This primarily reduces the rotating masses at the spoke end. This benefits both the wheel's acceleration and braking performance. The use of 14G nipples offers a wide variety of combinations.
 

 
 The center section has been enlarged to 1.65mm, making the spoke much stiffer and less torsional during truing than a 1.5mm center section. This results in a simpler wheel building process.
